What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that treats skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Microneedling with SkinPen works by the controlled delivery of tiny needles into the dermis, which delivers a controlled injury. This leads to a cellular and remodeling response, which results in improved skin quality and appearance. This minimally invasive treatment can help smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, and wrinkles.

What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?

Our New York City microneedling patients have reported a number of benefits, including

  • Improved appearance of scars, including acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles
  • Decreased size of pores
  • Improved appearance of hyperpigmentation or dark spots
  • Even skin tone
  • Improved skin elasticity

Who Are the Best Candidates for Microneedling?

  • Enlarged pores,
  • Fine lines or wrinkles
  • Mild scars, especially those from acne or burns
  • Skin discoloration or uneven skin tone

Microneedling First Step

What’s the first step?

The first step to getting Microneedling in NYC is to call our practice and schedule a consultation. During this appointment, you will speak with Dr. Molina, who will walk you through the steps of the procedure and its benefits. She will assess your aesthetic goals and skin issues to determine whether you are a good candidate. The consultation is also your opportunity to discuss your medical and cosmetic concerns with Dr. Molina so she can make the best recommendations tailored to your needs.

What to Expect On the Day of a Microneedling Treatment

On the day of your Microneedling procedure, your skin will be cleaned, and a numbing cream or ointment will be applied 30 minutes before your procedure.

Next, a handheld device, similar to a pen, will be used to deliver tiny needles superficially into the skin. The depth of treatment can be changed based on preset parameters and depending on the patient’s skin type and the areas being treated. Treatment depths range from 0.5 millimeters to 2 millimeters.

You might feel mild pressure or a scratching sensation on your face once the microneedling starts. Some people feel slightly more discomfort over bony areas such as the forehead and cheekbones. Deeper microneedling may cause pinpoint bleeding and is to be expected at certain treatment depths.

A microneedling procedure takes approximately 1 hour when you factor in time to numb, the actual treatment, and if PRP is being used in combination with microneedling.

Microneedling Recovery

Microneedling downtime varies, but you may be red or pink for 1-2 days after the procedure, similar to a sunburn. This redness also depends on the depth of the treatment. You may have some mild swelling in the dermis after the procedure. Ice will help reduce irritation and discomfort.

Mild peeling or flaking is generally minimal around day 2 or 3 after the procedure. You may wear makeup 24 hours after the procedure. You should refrain from sun exposure until a week after; sunscreen is always recommended.

PRP, applied topically during the procedure, may shorten microneedling recovery.

Microneedling Cost

How Much Does Microneedling Cost in New York City, NY?

The cost of microneedling in New York City will vary based on a few factors, including the amount of skin and surface areas being treated, the time needed to complete your procedure, and the techniques Dr. Molina will use on your skin.

We recommend three microneedling sessions in order to see the maximal benefit of microneedling.

During your consultation, Dr. Molina will assess all the factors above to design a treatment plan for you, and our Concierge Team will provide you with price details.

Microneedling FAQ’S

  • “I have visited this office several times and always have a great experience. The office itself is beautiful and Erika is very helpful and accommodating of my schedule. I loved my results after botox with Dr Molina and most recently had microneedling with PRP. It was my first time having the procedure done and I was a little nervous, but Dr Molina listened to my concerns and made sure I was comfortable at every step of the procedure and the procedure itself and recovery were much easier than I expected. I can’t wait to see the final results. Highly recommend Dr Molina.”
