Dermal Fillers First Step
What’s the first step?
If you are interested in filling out, contact our Manhattan office today to schedule your appointment. Filling out can be done at the same time as your initial consultation.
Dermal fillers are one of the most popular treatments in aesthetic plastic surgery today. The face naturally loses volume and firmness in the skin as we age. Filler is used to replace this volume loss, helping to smooth wrinkles and enhance facial contours. The filler should be placed strategically to give a natural appearance. If you are considering dermal fillers in New York City, schedule your consultation with Dr. Bianca Molina.
Dermal fillers are FDA-approved for treating wrinkles in lines and addressing volume loss. The filler is made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance in the body. Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is tolerated well and works by adding volume instantly in the area in which it was injected. Another type of filler uses poly-L-lactic acid to promote new collagen formation over time in the injected areas.
At our practice, we offer the following filler options:
Juvederm – The Juvederm® product line contains injectable hyaluronic acid gel that can address multiple areas of concern in the face, including cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips, jawline, and marionette lines.
Restylane – Restylane® is another product line of injectable hyaluronic acid filler that has similar treatment indications.
Sculptra – Sculptra® is an effective poly-L-lactic acid bio-stimulator that stimulates new collagen production and adds volume over time. Sculptra can lead to smoother and improved facial contours and improve the appearance of your skin.
The benefits of dermal filler include:
If you want to add volume to the face with a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, dermal fillers in NYC can be a great option. First, here are some of the attributes Dr. Molina will look for to determine if you are a good candidate:

Dr. Molina performs all filler injections and is a board-certified plastic surgeon. When you come in for filler, you can expect the following:
Strategic points on your face may be marked as the appropriate injection sites for the filler. The areas to be treated will be photographed.
An antibacterial agent will cleanse the injection sites. Topical numbing cream, a vibrating pen to distract from needlesticks, and ice will lessen pain at the injection site. Many filler products used today also contain numbing medication, such as lidocaine.
Filler injection usually takes only a few moments per site. The process of injecting, massaging, and evaluating the result is done carefully, with adjustments as needed. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the whole process may be as short as 15 minutes or as long as an hour.
The treatment areas will be cleaned, and you will be given an ice pack to relieve discomfort. Discomfort after filler is generally mild and does not require pain medication.
Recovery time varies for each patient and each type of filler injected. You can resume most activities immediately, but to limit swelling and bruising, avoiding intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours is generally advised.
An essential part of your recovery is to be aware of what to expect after having filler. You can typically expect:
These symptoms may be present and usually dissipate in a matter of hours to days. Ice or cold compress can be beneficial for discomfort and swelling,
